Burgess Commits To BYU
Chamberlain Burgess (6’9” Highland, UT, Orem) is considered the number one player in the state of Utah. He choose BYU over Illinois and also had offers from Hawaii, Denver, UVU and Weber St. He is planning on serving a mission and will be part of the ‘27 class. Burgess is the nephew of BYU Assistant Coach Chris Burgess. Burgess averaged 12 points and 7 rebounds a game as a junior. Burgess was part of the Utah Prospects club that won the Adidas National Championship during the summer. In the championship game, Burgess has 9 points, 4 rebounds and 4 blocks.
Staton Visits Provo
Xavion Staton (6’10” Las Vegas, NV, Sierra Vista) is 23-24 Nevada Gatorade Player of the Year and is in Provo this weekend for his official visit. He has a press conference scheduled for Monday to announce his decision. He has taken previous visits to UNLV, Michigan and Stanford. He led his high school team to the Nevada 4A State Championship last season. He led his club team to a national championship on the Puma Circuit during the summer.
Grind Session
The Grind Session is a league featuring high schools from around the country. Instead of playing “home” games, all members of the league will gather in a different city each weekend throughout the year to play their games. The Grind Session kicked off the season in Denver this weekend and will be in Toronto next weekend. They will take a break before heading to Las Vegas the weekend after Thanksgiving. The Grind Session currently features five athletes that have offers from BYU:
