Burgess averaged 12 points and 7 rebounds a game while making 1 three-pointer per game as a junior. Schedules
The new reality of high level high school basketball requires teams to travel. Elite prep schools and academies have no interest in “taking state,” but only in finding the next place to showcase it’s players and it’s brand against other teams of a similar mindset. Utah Prep, which features three players with offers from BYU, will play in 13 states as well as Toronto and Jamaica(full schedule here). They will play in Utah three times. Darius Bivin’s Bishop O’Connell team out of Virginia, will still play local competition, but will also play tournaments in Texas, South Carolina and the Bahamas. The plus side for fans is that one of these showcase tournaments is likely close to your home. The tournament closest to Provo (Five for the Fight Hoopfest) will feature nine players with offer from BYU and will be played November 25-27.
